Inpatient, Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Programs
Updated July 2026
Inpatient Treatment is psychiatric hospitalization.
Residential provides 24/7 care for a longer period of time than inpatient, and is considered a lower level of care.
PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program) may also be called Day Program and is typically 5-8 hours/day up to 7 days per week.
IOP (Intensive Outpatient Treatment) is typically 3-4 hours 3-5 days/week.
Some providers may offer PHP and IOP virtually.
