The Living Room

Let’s Sit Together.

What Is The Living Room?

The Living Room is a place to come if you are experiencing life’s stresses or an increase in mental health symptoms. Our trained Living Room team and Recovery Support Specialists uses our own experience with mental health to help others – whether you are in an emotional crisis, or just need a safe place to speak with someone who understands, come talk with us. We’ve lived it and can be there to help build positive mental health and grow your emotional wellness. Services are free of charge.

What to Expect at The Living Room?

The NAMI Metro Suburban Living Room is a calming, home-like space where people can take a breath and talk with someone who truly understands what they’re going through.

NAMI recovery support specialists are trained staff members who have experience with mental health challenges and recovery, and will provide a listening ear and real coping strategies to help. Our team knows what it’s like to feel hopeless or afraid, and they’re trained to provide emotional support, de-escalation, and practical tools for navigating the moment and beyond. Instead of focusing on what’s “wrong,” they focus on what’s happening right now and what might help you feel better.

Who can visit The Living Room?

Anyone who is 18 and over who is feeling scared, anxious, angry, sad, or just needs someone to talk to. You can walk-in or call ahead.
