Sean O’Connor

Program Manager

Sean joined NAMI Metro Suburban in March 2019 and currently serves as the Program Manager. Sean oversees the NAMI Drop-In Center in Oak Park with a mission to offer a safe, stigma-free space for people to make friends, practice life skills, and build a community of wellness through peer support. Sean also supervises The CRSS Hub as the NAMI Metro Suburban Internship Program and is the NAMI contact for volunteer opportunities. Sean grew up in Oak Park, Illinois just a couple of blocks from the Drop-In Center and is thrilled to be providing NAMI services in his hometown. 

Sean is a Certified Recovery Support Specialist and earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a focus on professional writing. He has worked as a Recovery Support Specialist at all three NAMI Metro Suburban Living Room locations and has provided NAMI outreach support at local hospitals. 

Sean is passionate about mental health advocacy and values being of service to so many remarkable people on their recovery journey. He enjoys building relationships with local organizations and fellow non-profits. Sean is grateful to work with the talented, dedicated, and wonderful people at NAMI!
